Find Good In Every Day

One mom's attempt at finding good in every day of this chaotic world.

Reason to Love Rhode Island May 13, 2014

My mom came for Mother’s Day, and we had a very productive yet relaxing Mother’s Day weekend.  We celebrated Mother’s Day Eve (to avoid some crowds) by having breakfast out on Saturday at our favorite place, T’s.  Delish!  Then off to the library and the nearby nursery to pick out plants.  My Mother’s Day gift was several plants to help us fill in one of our beds in the front of the house.  It makes me so happy to see fresh new plants and mulch when I pull into the driveway now.  We have a long way to go, but this was a good start.  A big thanks to my mom and Jeremy for the plants and even bigger thanks to Jeremy for sweating it out for several hours Saturday afternoon to get the front bed looking great after a big delivery of mulch!

On Mother’s Day, we knew we wanted to see the water.  That was my mom’s only request.  Mine was to see water, but also to have no whining.  Can’t get everything, though, right?!  Living in Rhode Island, there is water all around us.  But we chose to drive to the opposite corner of the state to a quaint area called Little Compton.  We had never been there but had heard wonderful things.  We drove by amazing farmland, past beautiful homes, through quaint towns and finally arrived at the lower point of Rhode Island.  The beach we walked on ended up being private, but since it was windy and chilly and not quite busy season, we took our chances.  Everything about these pictures is what I love about Rhode Island.

What a wonderful Mother’s Day!  What can be better than a beautiful beach with rocks to climb on, rocks to skip in the water, and a lighthouse in the background?  Gotta love Rhode Island! We then enjoyed yummy sandwiches at a cafe in Tiverton, then relaxed at home before our amazing steak tip dinner (my all-time fave!) and capped it off watching Frozen and eating ice cream.  Yeah – pretty awesome!  Thanks for my hubby for treating me so well and loving me no matter what.  Thanks to my kiddos who assure me every day that I am the best mom for them.  And thanks to my mom for teaching me how to be a great mom by example!  Love you all!
