As I’ve mentioned here before, Friday is Pizza and Movie Night at the Lake household. We either order pizza from a local spot or national chain or we make our own. I’m still trying to find a delicious homemade crust that holds a candle to my brother-in-law’s pizza crust. I even tried making his, but we learned that it is best left to him. (And why would we want to take away from the special times we actually get to eat Scott’s pizza?)
No matter what pizza we eat, though, the tradition is the same. We watch a family-friendly movie while eating pizza in the living room and NOT at the dining room table as we do every other night. The kids get a kick out of it, and I love the coziness of the evening.
Last week, we decided to add a little flair to our tradition by inviting some friends over to join us. It was a great combination of pizza, wine, good conversation, and happy and distracted kids. (Except for the whole thing with Cooper throwing a fit that we were watching Mary Poppins rather than Cars. Oh, and the whole bit with the busted lip right as they were getting ready to leave. Other than those things, happy kids.)
I loved having friends join us for our tradition. While it added a level of stress in terms of making sure the house was clutter free and then cleaning up after 4 kids rather than 2, it was still a wonderful way to end the week and start the weekend.
